The 2023 Asian Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships kicked off in Singapore on June 10th, with the Chinese Men’s Team winning the silver medal in Men’s Team and Individual All-around Final-cum-Individual Qualification.
The Chinese Men’s Team at the Asian Championships is composed of Huai Tianlang, Wang Haoyu, Wang Chengcheng and Zheng Ao. After six rounds of fierce competition, the Chinese team won the men’s team runner-up with 236.450 points. The championship went to Japan with 241.050 points, while South Korea finished third with 233.750 points.
The men’s Individual All-around champion and runner-up were won by two Japanese players. Zheng Ao of China scored 78.400 points to rank fourth and Huai Tianlang scored 78.300 points to rank fifth. The Chinese Men’s Team also qualified for all six individual finals, which will be held on June 12nd.
After the end of the Asian Youth Games, the 10th Asian Senior Gymnastics Championships will start in Singapore on the 15th, and the Chinese Gymnastics Team has left on the 11th. The Men’s Team includes LAN Xingyu, Yin Dede, Ta Yinga, Su Weide, Tian Hao and Xie Chenyi, and the Women’s Team includes Qiu Qiyuan, Zhang Qingying, Zhang Xinyi, Zuo Tong, Jia Ruoyi and Chen Xinyi. Among them, the Women’s Team players are basically young athletes born in 2007, except Qiu Qiyuan participated in the two stops of this year’s World Cup, the other players are the first time to compete in international competitions.
This Asian Championships is the qualification for the 2023 Antwerp World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. The Chinese Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics Team won the champion of the Men’s Team and the sixth place of the Women’s Team in the World Championships in Liverpool last year, which locked the qualification for this year’s World Championships in advance. Therefore, the purpose of the Chinese Team’s participation in this Asian Championships is mainly to train the team and investigate the players for the Asian Games, World Championships and other competitions.
